Crossbones for iPhone / iPod touch →
A former coworker has just released a new game for the iPhone: Crossbones. It really whips the llama’s ass, if I do say so myself. 99 cents for a game of this quality is highway robbery.

Fed Cuts Benchmark Rate to Near Zero →
“Far more important than the rate itself, the Fed bluntly declared that it was ready to move to a new phase of monetary policy in which it prints vast amounts of money for a wide array of lending programs aimed at financial institutions, businesses and consumers.”
Good thing I’ve been buying gold.

Tour of Pennsylvania
This weekend, the Tour of Pennsylvania came to town. On Saturday, Mike was in town and we went to the stage finish at the South Side Works. On Sunday my parents came to Pittsburgh for the criterium downtown. The criterium was shortened by rain, but the festivities were still fun. I posted some of my photos on Flickr.

TOSRV
Last weekend I went to Ohio and completed TOSRV, a 2 day, 210 mile bike ride from Columbus to Portsmouth. It went very well, except for some rain and wind on Sunday. I should be in good shape for the MS 150 in June…

SXSW 2008
Although I’m very delinquent in writing this entry, I did, in fact, attend SXSW 2008. I went with my friend Jason from college and had a great time. Had a great time in Austin, that is. Getting there and back was another story. I ended up spending unplanned nights in Memphis on my way to and from SXSW. One of those nights was in a roach motel, literally. And I had to rent a car and drive...
Just signed up for TOSRV, a 200 mile bike tour the weekend of May 10-11. That ought to focus my training…
I did my first bike ride of the year tonight. 10.05 miles, 45m 27s, 850 ft of climbing.

Montana Governor on 'Real ID' Act →
Montana governor Brian Schweitzer is my new hero after listening to this interview. Make sure you stick around until the very end of the interview.
Holy shit, Point Brugge is tasty.
Mike was in Pittsburgh for work today, so we met up for dinner at LuLu’s. Afterward we went to see No Country for Old Men. Good stuff, but not as good as There Will Be Blood.

I’m thinking about getting a new digital camera before I go to SXSW next week. My current digital camera is a 2 megapixel clunker that takes AA batteries, so almost anything would be a big improvement. Anyone used a Canon PowerShot SD1000?
My parents drove over to Pittsburgh today. We had brunch at the Grand Concourse, which was fun. Now to work on my presentation for Tuesday…
Analyze This: Hoaxer Haunts Earnings Calls →
This is hilarious. When we listen to the AAPL earnings calls we like to joke about playing a drinking game where you’d have to drink every time an analyst asks for some “color”.
I’ll be giving a talk on Ruby on Rails at the next Refresh Pittsburgh meeting, February 26th at 7pm.
Had dinner at Tessaro’s last night with Allison, Marvin, and Sally Caine. Afterwards we went bowling at Arsenal Lanes. First time I’ve been there. A bowling alley with a full bar is a good way to spend a Saturday evening…
Tonight I’m hanging out at the Adobe AIR user group tour.
Went alpine skiing for the second time ever yesterday, at 7 Springs. I took a group lesson and finally learned how to make sharp turns. I still fell quite a bit, but I made twice as many runs down the mountain (2) as I did last time, so I’m improving…

We have a couple of guys from Norway working in our office this week. Yesterday at lunch, one of them asked if it was “Super Tuesday”, and a political discussion ensued. Partway through the conversation they asked, unprompted, if anyone was a Ron Paul supporter. Ron Paul revolution FTW.
DevHouse Pittsburgh #2 was yesterday. I think it went well. The talks were excellent and Creative TreeHouse was the perfect venue. It was nice to catch up with Paul and Gary, who I went to college with but haven’t seen in 3 years… Not sure if I can handle another 12 hour DevHouse, though. I’m exhausted.
